Jason Cannici

Jason played college ball at Manhattan College (Div. I ) as a starting pitcher. Recorded first ever win against Marist College in Florida in the 1996 season. Pitched 2 years in a very competitive MAAC Conference. A rotator cuff injury forced him out of college baseball.

Determined to back into the game, Cannici spent the last 20 years coaching baseball in Bergen County New Jersey. Started career at Bogota High School (99-02) as Varsity Baseball Coach in which he turned program around making two state playoff appearances as well as a County Tournament bid. In 2002, he received Coach of the Year in the BCSL Olympic Division.

Currently, Jason is the Head Baseball Coach and Special Education Teacher at Dumont High School in Dumont, NJ. He has won three consecutive league titles and has been named coach of the year in each season. (2007-2010). The school’s last league championship was in 1988. Coach Cannici has now 10 league titles and a sectional state title in 2011. Cannici has coached against the premier schools in Bergen County including: Don Bosco, Bergen Catholic, Paramus Catholic and St. Joseph Regional High School. Coach Cannici was currently inducted into NJ Coaches Hall of Fame 2019 and also named NFHS National Federation High School Coach of the year Award.

Cannici has helped many of his players go on to the college level to play baseball. “Pitching and defense wins games”--- Cannici believes the emphasis with pitchers should be on the fundamental mechanics.
